The Thermo Scientific Orion half-cell fluoride ion selective electrode (ISE) has a solid-state sensor for measuring the fluoride (F-) concentration in drinking water, waste water, sea water, stack emissions, soil, food, dental care products, carbonated beverages, biological samples, and other aqueous solutions. The solid-state sensor allows for dry storage and eliminates the need for membrane replacement. This half-cell type electrode is for use with a single-junction reference electrode (sold separately) in general applications. It has an epoxy body for impact resistance and durability.
The ISE has a measurement range that is saturated to 0.02 parts per million (ppm) (saturated to 1E-6 M), and its main interfering ion is OH-. It operates in temperatures ranging from 0 to 80 degrees C (32 to 176 degrees F) and is recommended for use in solutions with pH ranging from 5 to 7. It is 12mm in diameter and 110mm long, and is available with a screw cap connector or a Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connector for attaching to compatible meters. ISEs respond selectively to ions in the presence of other ions, and are commonly used for water testing and analyzing biological samples in hydroponics, aquaculture, and agriculture, among other applications.
An electrode, also called a sensor or probe, is an instrument used with a meter to test and measure parameters of a substance. Ion selective electrodes (ISEs) respond selectively to ions in the presence of other ions. Electrodes are commonly used by researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists in a wide variety of industries, such as aquaculture, agriculture, chemistry, food and beverage, wine-making and water-testing, and for scientific applications. An electrode can be used with a datalogger to assist in temperature measurement.
